Highland Titles: A Very Modern Clan

Clans were a community with a sense of belonging to their corner of Scotland and an attachment to the land that they swore to protect. Much like a clan, our Highland Titles community also shares the investment and attachment to the land, our Nature Reserves, which they have helped to protect when purchasing their souvenir plot of land.

In addition to the attachment to the land, our Lords, Ladies, and Lairds also have a sense of belonging to the community, and we even have our own tartan and clan crest! So, Highland Titles, can be considered a modern clan. Join the clan by purchasing a plot of land and continue our mission to conserve Scotland, one square foot at a time™!

This is nonsense – Considering Marilyn Monroe’s real name was Norma Jean Dougherty how can she possibly be descended from the incorrectly spelt Monroe clan? Since when has Langholm been in the Highlands? How can McDonald not be of Scots descent? Getting confused with the Ray Krok story I think.

Hi – thank you so much for your comment! Despite the difference in names, a DNA investigation carried out in 2016 found that Marilyn Monroe has Scottish roots – you can read a detailed article on the investigation here. In regards to the McDonald brothers, their parents were Irish, so, unfortunately, no known connection to the Scottish McDonald clan. Hope this has answered some of your questions!

While watching and loving the movie OUTLANDERS, I didn’t realize how actually true this story was and I’ve watched the available seasons several times in the last few weeks and waiting for more. Only to now find out while tracing my genealogy for 40 years that I am from the Clan Macdougall 3 generations back through Margaret “Peggy” Deweese. So interesting that I have now watched and studied up on my new discovery.
