This Valentine’s Day, we wanted to give a lucky couple the chance to win their own couples plot in Scotland and become Lairds, Lords or Ladies of Glencoe, together! To do so, we asked our social media audience to nominate their significant other and tell us why they both deserve to become Lords or Ladies and own a wee piece of Scotland.
With almost 500 entries, we are rather happy that the winners were selected randomly, because we would not be able to choose just one – they were all too good! In this post, we have compiled some of our favourite entries, and we will also share the winning submission. Continue reading to feel the love within the Community!
True love declarations
We weren’t too surprised to find this type of submission – true, beautiful, and wonderful love declarations. Those that tug at your heart strings and make your heart melt. It was incredibly difficult to feature only 3, but here’s some of the best.
Give the kids something to talk about
While traditionally, Valentine’s Day has been about celebrating romantic relationships, this date is also an opportunity to let your kids know how much you care for, love and appreciate them. Whether they want their wee ones to celebrate their Scottish heritage or they want to match their kids existing Lairds status, many participants have mentioned their kids in their entries!
A green heart for conservation
Despite the novelty of the gift pack, for a lot of participants, the prospect of being part of a unique conservation project is their main motivation to join the Community. These entries really show the participants’ will to help us in our mission to continue to restore the beauty and wildlife of the Scottish Highlands.
It’s in their blood
Finally, the last category of submissions is all about Scottish heritage. So many of the entries mention a connection to Scotland or to a Scottish clan, and they are true testaments of the participants’ affinity to the Scottish land.
The Winning Entry
Although randomly selected, the winning entry is a particularly lovely submission. We are incredibly happy to gift a couples plot to Lady Amy and Lord Michael – and we wish them a wonderful 10th anniversary!
A great big thank you to everyone who participated in the competition, and we hope you are all feeling the love in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.
