Buy an NFT and get a REAL plot of land*!

That’s right! As you may already know, we have been selling souvenir plots of land in Scotland since 2006. More than 300,000 people have bought from our website, obtaining a valid legal right to their very own plot of land which they can visit any time! Thousands of people visit every year.

How does it work?

Now, you can buy an NFT from our website which not only looks cool:

  • It contains the exact co-ordinates of your souvenir plot of land in the NFT metadata.
  • Each plot of land is one square foot in size.
  • Unlike traditional contracts, NFT transactions are all recorded on the blockchain, providing irrefutable proof of ownership. As a result, the contract of sale is enhanced!

Is this legit?

Yes, entirely. A souvenir plot of land was defined in section 4(1)(b) of the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 1979 as

a piece of land which, being of inconsiderable size or no practical utility, is unlikely to be wanted in isolation except for the sake of mere ownership or for sentimental reasons or commemorative purposes.

*Our customers obtain a personal right to a souvenir plot of land. This is a valid legal right that prevents us from selling the same plot of land twice. It does not give customers the right to build on their land. Highland Titles remains as the registered landowner and manages the land as a nature reserve on your behalf.

Our customers have only ever obtained their rights of ownership through a traditional contract of sale between buyer (the customer) and seller (us). Because the Land Registration (Scotland) Act does not record the sale of souvenir plots, the only record of the sale has been held by the customer and us (on our internal register).

NFT plots have the added benefit that the sale is recorded on the blockchain, providing irrefutable proof of purchase. However, please note that NFT plots do not come with a certificate or gift pack.

FAQs

What is the carbon footprint of NFTs?

Our NFT plots are minted on the Polygon blockchain, which went carbon neutral in 2022 and is aiming to go carbon negative.

What is an NFT plot?

Our NFT plots are mix of digital (NFT) and physical (the land) assets. The digital NFT file confirms your legal right, specifically a personal right of ownership, to a souvenir plot of land on the Highland Titles Nature Reserve. The exact location of your plot of land is recorded in the NFT metadata.

Is each NFT plot of land unique?

Yes. Each NFT is unique because the metadata contains unique latitude and longitude co-ordinates.

Do you need a digital wallet to buy an NFT plot?

No. We have partnered with specialist NFT developers so you don’t need any crypto experience at all! You can buy using your normal payment method and your NFT will be minted on the Polygon blockchain. You will receive everything you need directly via email.

If I buy an NFT plot, can I style myself a Laird, Lord or Lady of the Glen?

Yes, all of our customers have our permission to use our registered trademarks, Laird, Lord and Lady of the Glen.
